Lesson Plan: Three Sisters Stew
This lesson plan was created with 2 other teacher candidates for the Grade 10 Family Studies course, Food and Nutrition (HFN2O). Students will explore the influences on food choices in FNMI communities, through the contributions and nutritional values of the "Three Sisters Stew." This lesson is designed to be inclusive of cultural diversity. This lesson was structured with the intent of making cross-curricular connections, touching on various subjects while meeting the objectives of creating a multiliterate and multimodal lesson plan.
This lesson plan was created with 3 other teacher candidates for the Grade 9 (Open) Exploring Family Studies course (HIF1O). This lesson provides many opportunities for students to make connections with text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world. Synaesthesia and metacognition are incorporated throughout the lesson plan.
